Bungie has hopes to keep bleeding fans dry with Destiny 2

Upon the release of Destiny, the vanilla game didn't have too much to offer. There was a string of story missions, some Strikes (boss fights), a Raid, and a handful of pvp modes. However, over the course of the next two years plenty of content was released to keep the game fresh and engaging. Meta changes and exciting loot drops kept players engaged and gave them an incentive to keep playing. There was one problem, everything was uber expensive. The vanilla game being $60 then but each DLC ranged from $30 - $40 depending on the size and content allowed, but is this game really worth hundreds of dollars? Perhaps if the expansions gave the game a huge set of new content it would be justifiable, especially because of the fun and adventure you can have with your friends battling diverse aliens. All players really got was new story missions (which mind you, the story to destiny didn't make much sense beneath the surface, and players had to piece together grimoire cards to decipher the true meaning of your actions within the game) and maybe a new raid or so. It was the same repetitive content with a polished look and Bungie lost a huge portion of its fan base even within the first year due to their punishment to long term players. New players joining today can get all of the content that other players had to pay an excessive amount for for the price of the vanilla game. The only players that didn't lose money were competitive players who streamed their content to raise money for themselves, and even for those players there are better options for gaming. There is no doubt that the new Destiny will be packed with fun and action, but in the end Bungie will punish you for wanting to play their games and it is much more beneficial to find something else to play.
